Aphrodite was seen to be beautiful but thoughtless, unfaithful and dangerous too as she betrayed Hephaestus and wasn’t a good mother. She liked to interfere with the minds and hearts of everyone, not even the other Olympian gods and goddesses could resist her charming powers.
The story of how Aphrodite was born is a very interesting one, she was born from the waves and foam of the ocean after Cronus had attacked his father. After Cronus defeated Uranus, he threw his father’s sex organs into the waves of the ocean where foam gathered and shaped itself into Aphrodite. There are also stories stating that Aphrodite is simply one of Zeus’ daughters

The Trojan War.
Aphrodite was one of the factors that led to the Trojan War, Zeus forced the Trojan prince Paris to decide on which goddess, Hera, Athena or Aphrodite, was the fairest. The three goddesses attempted to bribe Paris with gifts, although they were all generous he found Aphrodite’s gift of the most beautiful woman in the world to be the best. Paris named Aphrodite to be the fairest of the goddesses so Aphrodite kept he promise and helped him gain the love of Helen, the wife of the king Menelaus of Sparta. Paris took Helen back to Troy with him and the Greeks’ attempts to reclaim her resulted in the Trojan War. Over the ten years of war Aphrodite continued to influence events, at different stages of the conflict she assisted the Trojan soldiers, particularly Paris. Whilst this was happening, Hera and Athena came to the aid of the Greeks as they were still offended by the choice that Paris made of declaring Aphrodite to be the fairest goddess.
